Ice attack VFX Effect made in Unity. God of War on the PS4 inspired me to create my ice attack. I used Maya to create spikes plus rocks, including sculpting the details into each spike/rock, used Mudbox to paint in the textures into the close-up shots of each rock, Photoshop was used to create my frost textures plus snowflakes, and Photoshop was used in the creation of the normal maps. In Unity, the spikes have two different frost materials, including the rocks also have two different materials plugged in to give variation. For this effect, I used the high poly meshes in the particle effect settings for the spike/rocks that were imported from Maya. I had a ton of fun creating each stage of this effect.
